I had a auto accident, Now what?

Auto accidents are an unfortunate part of many individuals' lives. It is often said "It is not if but a when" with auto accidents. So many factors are now working against us when we are involved in an auto accident. Things like the shock of getting in an accident. The fact that it is not planned and most likely is interrupting an already busy day. Not to mention the stress of a car that is now damaged, legal issues, insurance issues, and the list goes on and on. So aside from the accident itself ... What are the key things that you need to know and do.

So what should you do if you are in an Auto accident?

Make sure everyone involved is OK and safe.
Call 911 and have a police report filled out if at all possible. (This is very important as peoples story's can change).
Take pictures if you can and get the name and contact information of witnesses if they are available
Do not discuss the accident with anyone involved, (Let the police do this.)
If you are hurting get checked out as soon as possible!
Call your insurance agent as soon as you can to allow them to get the claim processed.
