Automobile Accident and Whiplash

Car accidents, especially those involving whiplash, are one of the more common reasons that patients first seek help from a Chiropractor. Injury to soft tissues such as the muscles, ligaments, and tendons is typical and often doesn't appear for a period of time following the initial accident.

In cases of automobile collisions, whiplash often occurs. When a person's spine or neck is suddenly forced in one direction, and then thrown back in the other direction, it causes a condition called a Whiplash.  This is a fancy name for a violent injury to a person's spine or neck. There are varying levels of seriousness for the condition of whiplash. At times, it is minor and recovery could occur fairly quickly. On other occasions, it may be intense and result in chronic pain which could go on for years.  A whiplash injury can result in permanent degeneration of the spine and neck if not treated in a timely manner.

Symptoms such as Dizziness, ringing in the ears, neck pain, headaches, general pain, numbness, and tingling of the arms and hands are common following a whiplash injury. Because a lot of these signs don't manifest until weeks, months, and possibly after years have passed, it is a good idea to go visit our Chiropractor as quickly as you can after you your injury to get this properly evaluated and treated if necessary.
